Keep it simple
Know the value, cut everything else.
I’m an engineering leader who’s spent twelve years in insurance technology working out why some teams ship good work reliably while others depend on heroics. This site is the system I’ve arrived at: three pillars, six principles, and essays that test them.
Three pillars, two principles each. Essays develop the principles.
How I work
Know the value, cut everything else.
Ship small, try things, and let real results decide.
How I lead
The leader works for the team: remove blockers, give context, build capability.
Be explicit about outcomes and standards; the team owns the approach.
How organizations work
Structure shapes behavior more than good intentions do.
Quality and learning come from fast, honest signals, not end-of-line gates.

I lead quality engineering at USAA and write about how teams and organizations actually produce good outcomes. I’m most interested in people in the middle of this work, not looking back on it.
